Mitsuba expands auto plant in Hungary

Japanese car electrical component producer Mitsuba Corporation has completed the first phase of a planned €13.5m (£11.6m) expansion project at its parts plant at Salgótarján in northern Hungary.

Mitsuba group, based in Kiryu-shi, Japan, announced it had finished work on the construction of 8,500 sq metres of new production halls and warehousing at its facility on Salgótarján’s industrial park.

The additional working area has effectively doubled the site’s manufacturing and storage capacity and new production machinery will continue to be installed at the plant, according to the group’s chief executive Noboru Hino. He stressed that the completion of work on the project’s stage one marked a significant milestone in the overall expansion scheme.
