Facebook May Have Stolen Tech For Open Compute Project

Facebook’s Open Compute Project may have stolen server and rack technology from BladeRoom, a UK data center company. A case against Facebook is underway and a district court judge in California has laid out the timeline for the proceedings.

According to BladeRoom, Facebook stole and used blueprints for its server warehouses. BladeRoom’s modular data center plants were taken and repackaged as “Open Compute.”

Discovery will take place until July 28, allowing both sides to request documents. There will then be a pretrial conference in August and a jury will be selected in March 2018, with a trial start date of April 3, 2018.
